January

February

  • February 3, 2018 - Candlelight Ski/Hike/Snowshoe Event - Black River State Forest

    • A 1.5-mile ski trail and a 1.0-mile snowshoe/hike trail will be lit with candle luminaries. Warm up around a large bonfire or in the heated shelter.

    • Meet at the Smrekar shelter located 4 miles east of Millston off County Road O.

  • February 11, 2018 - Friends of the Black River Snowshoe/Hike; 12:30 start from end of High Banks Road near Hatfield.

    • Meet at BRF Chamber of Commerce at 12:00pm to follow others to starting point.

    • 2-Mile Hike - Family Friendly; Snowshoes not provided but can be arranged if call ahead.

March

  • March 17, 2018 - Irishfest 5K - Ettrick, WI, 9 a.m. registration at Fire Station. 10:30 a.m. Run/Walk. All proceeds go to Ettrick Fire Dept. and First Responders.

  • March 22, 2018 - Harvest of the Month (Lentils/Beans) - 11:30 - 12:30 Taste test award-winning lentil recipe at Black River Memorial Hospital.

April

  • April 7, 2018 - Friends of the Black River Paddle on Robinson Creek, 10am (Bring your own gear or gear available. Questions - Contact Jeff Polzin at 715-896-5534)

  • April 8, 2018 - Friends of the Black River Paddle on Morrison Creek, 9am (Bring your own gear or gear available. Questions - Contact Jeff Polzin at 715-896-5534)

  • April 20, 2018 - Harvest of the Month (mixed greens): WEAU-TV 13 – 4 p.m. News. Guest appearance—BRMH Dietitian Ruth Chipps

  • CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER - April 21, 2018 - Friends of the Black River Earth Day Cleanup. Meet at 8am at the Wazee Beach Parking Lot.

  • April 22, 2018 - Friends of the Black River Whitewater Paddle, 10am (Bring your own gear or gear available. Questions - Contact Jeff Polzin at 715-896-5534)

  • April 28, 2018 - 30th Annual Cystic Fibrosis Bike/Walk-a-thon - Black River Falls; Registration starts at 8:30am at the BRF Middle School

    • Three bike routes options: 1 mile, 5 miles, or a challenging 10 miles

    • Walking will be on the Foundation trail.

    • All participants that raise $25.00 or more are eligible for prizes.

May

  • May 5, 2018 - School Forest Family Hike, 9am, at Castle Mound off Highway 12. Free, casual event this year, no timing. You can hike or run 1 or 2 laps around the mound; 1.6 miles per lap. Donations accepted to support the School Forest.

  • May 12, 2018 - Friends of the Black River Wildflower 1-Mile Hike, 10am start at Pettibone Pass. (Meet at the BRF Chamber of Commerce at 9:30am)

  • May 17, 2018 - Harvest of the Month(Asparagus): WEAU-TV 13 – 4 p.m. News. Guest appearance—BRMH Dietitian Ruth Chipps

  • May 18, 2018 - Community Awareness Walk 12pm-1pm at the Black River Falls Visitor's Center; Take a 30 minute or less walk along the Foundation Trail to get outdoors, be mindful, learn about mental health, and gather mental health resources.

  • May 19, 2018 - Pace and Pedal Duathlon, 5K Color Fun Run/Walk, and Youth Color Race

  • May 20, 2018 - Friends of the Black River Flat Water Paddle, 12:30pm; Location TBD; More information to come

  • May 26, 2018 - 2nd Annual Stop the Stigma 5K; Ho-Chunk Nation Health Dept. 8AM start at the D1CC. Contact 715-284-9851 ext 5385 for more information.

June

  • June 2, 2018- 10:30 a.m. First Annual Down ‘n Dairy Poker Run. Contact: Kristin Pfaff. 715-896-6971. Meet at Nathan and Karen Klings Farm, Taylor ) $10 fee. Travel by motorcycle, car, truck, bicycle, or scooter! Ends at Garden Valley Gatherings (Alma Center) around 5:00PM. Hayrides at 6 p.m. music by Sam Ness at 7pm.

  • June 5, 2018- 7-8p.m. Concert in the Park at Lunda Park. Black River Area Community Band

  • June 6, 2018 - Jackson County Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics at Lunda Park in Black River Falls; 4:30pm Registration, 6:00pm Run/Walk Starts

    • 4 mile run/walk (shorter distance routes available)

    • $15 registration fee (t-shirt included); All proceeds go to Special Olympics Wisconsin

    • Tshirt orders can be made anytime at the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Jackson Correctional Institution, or Black River Falls Police Department

  • June 9, 2018 - Old Fashioned Hustle 5K - Taylor

  • November 3, 2018 - Jackson County Annual Wellness and Diabetes Fair: Black River Falls, Wis. Free admission. Coordinated by Jackson County Diabetes Education Alliance.

  • November 22, 2018 Jackson In Action Gobbler Giveback - Thanksgiving Day at 8am. Meet at the Foundation Trail, starting from the Chamber of Commerce.
