Check out the fitness and wellness events taking place throughout the year in Jackson County! 

January

February

  • February 2, 2019 - Friends of the Black River Pool Kayak Event, 11am-2pm at BRF Middle School Pool. No equipment needed. All ages welcome. $5 per person or $10 per family.

  • February 2, 2019 - Candlelight Ski/Hike/Snowshoe Event - Black River State Forest

    • Ski a 1.5-mile trail or snowshoe/hike a 1-mile trail, both lighted by candle luminaries. Bonfire to follow. Hot chocolate and hot dogs available for purchase. Meet at the Smrekar shelter on County Road O east of Millston. 6-9 p.m.  

  • February 10, 2019 - Friends of the Black River Snowshoe/Hike; 12:30 start - Location TBA.

    • Meet at BRF Chamber of Commerce at 12:00pm to follow others to starting point.

    • 2-Mile Hike - Family Friendly; Snowshoes not provided but can be arranged if call ahead.

  • June 1, 2019 - Old Fashioned Hustle 5K - Taylor, 8am Taylor Community Park - Registration Link

  • June 8, 2019 - Black River Falls Bike Rodeo

    • This fun, family-friendly event helps education our youth about bicycle safety and it is FREE to attend! More information to come.

  • June 8, 2019 - Robinson Creek Paddling Excursion; Contact Jeff Polzin at 715-896-5534 for more details.

    • Robinson Creek Preservation Association will be holding its annual breakfast, membership meeting, and paddle beginning at 9AM at Camp Salem Breakfast at Camp Salem, N2635 Bacon Road.

    • Pancakes and Coffee will be provided. Paddle to follow around 11:00am. $10 membership fee suggested.

    • All skills abilities welcome - event will be beginner friendly. Boats can be provided.

  • June 15, 2019 - Move with a Doc, 9am, Meet at the Jackson County Farmers Market.

  • June 22, 2019 - Alma Center Strawberry Festival Fun Run/5K - 7:30am registration, 8:00 am start at the intersection of Hwy F and Hwy 95 by the vet office. Race day registration only. Contact Jeanine Strandberg at 715-964-5441 for more information.

  • October 1-31, 2019 - LCC’s I Ain’t Afraid Virtual 5K Challenge. More information to come.

  • October 12, 2019 - 4th Annual Color Fun Run, sponsored by Ho-Chunk National Domestic Abuse Division. 9am registration, 10am start at Tribal Office Building (W9184 Airport Rd); FREE to participate. (Rain Date - October 26)

  • October 19, 2019 - Black River Trail Classic - at Black River State Forest. Trail runs of 10K, 25K, and 50K. Registration at https://nurun.co/brtc

November

  • November 28, 2019 Jackson In Action Gobbler Giveback - Thanksgiving Day at 8am. Meet at the Foundation Trail, starting from the Chamber of Commerce.

December

  • Date TBD Santa Run/Walk (1/2 Mile, Mile, or 5K) - 8am at BRF Chamber of Commerce; All proceeds will go toward the BRF Middle School 8th Grade trip to Washington DC
